Happy 26th Birthday Walmer Park!

Happy 26th Birthday Walmer Park!

Walmer Park Shopping Centre is once again proud to be sharing their birthday, with the birthday of the late Nelson Mandela. On the 18th of July 1988, some 26 years ago, Walmer Park Shopping Centre opened its doors to the public of Port Elizabeth for the first time and therefore Walmer Park’s birthday has also been celebrated on the 18th of July each year.

To commemorate these special occasions, and to honor our Nelson Mandela with the “67 minutes for Mandela” campaigns which are hosted throughout South Africa, Walmer Park hosted a “Tea for 67 minutes” in the Centre’s Promotions Court on Friday, 18th of July 2014. Residents from Buffelsfontein Retirement Village and children from the MTR Smith Children’s Home have been invited to attend the tea.

Our invited guests, both young & old were treated to tea and cake, generously sponsored by Pick n Pay, Wimpy & Café Capellini. Angelic Wonders ensured that our guests are seated at the best dressed table that Angelic Wonders has to offer, with their table décor and settings.

Beautiful gift packages were put together for each of the invited guests. The contents of these gift packages have been generously donated by the following tenants of Walmer Park Shopping Centre: Fogartys Bookshop, The Matador, Nu Metro, Little Britain, Ultimate Stylists & Walmer Park Shopping Centre.

At this event, the official Walmer Park Birthday Cake, generously donated by Pick ‘n Pay Walmer Park, was cut and handed out to the guests.

At this occasion, we also handed over the special commemorative Gold Mandela Coin valued at R5 000.00, which has been generously sponsored by The Scoin Shop, Walmer Park. This coin was the prize that was up for grabs on the Walmer Park Facebook page. Andre van der Merwe from The Scoin Shop handed this valuable prize to the lucky winner, Michelle Foot from Port Elizabeth.
